We have all heard the phrase, “You can’t teach an old dog, new tricks.” However, God never views our lives that way, no matter how old we are. In the NCBAM Call Center we regularly take 400-500 calls each month and nearly 80% of our clients are unchurched. We are constantly reminded of the importance of sharing the Gospel (Good News) with those we encounter. We believe that God desires for everyone to begin a new life through a relationship with Jesus Christ, no matter their age. (If you know of a person who needs help, have them call the NCBAM Call Center, Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm at 877-506-2226.)
I remember when I was in my mid-20s and I was having lunch with my grandfather at his home. He had just made his “famous cornbread” and that is the real reason for my visit. We were sitting at the table while my grandmother was busy about the house and I asked, “Grandaddy, what is the craziest thing you have seen in all your years?”
He thought for a moment and then proceeded to tell me about a gentleman arriving in this rural mountain town nestled in the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and he was riding a bicycle with a motor. We now know this to be a motorcycle, but for that community, it was the first time they had seen anyone being transported by an engine. In my grandfather’s time, it was a new day. A new and exciting day!
We too have an opportunity for something NEW. It is time for many of us to have a new and exciting day! In a world increasingly marred by chaos, conflict, and uncertainty, the importance of turning to Jesus Christ for salvation has never been more urgent or exciting. The current geopolitical tensions—particularly the recent conflicts between Israel and Iran—serve as stark reminders of how fragile peace can be and how swiftly circumstances can change. In these troubling times, the message resounds loudly: NOW is the time to be saved. The acronym N-O-W underscores the urgency—Now Opens the door to salvation, and We must respond without delay.
In these troubling times, the message resounds loudly: NOW is the time to be saved. The acronym N-O-W underscores the urgency—Now Opens the door to salvation, and We must respond without delay.
The Troubling Times We Live In The conflict between Israel and Iran is not just a regional skirmish; it symbolizes the volatility and unpredictability that characterize much of today’s world. With nuclear threats, military escalations, and diplomatic tensions rising, the prospect of widespread war looms large. Such unrest stirs fears of devastation, displacement, and loss of life. Beyond the immediate violence, there is a pervasive sense of instability—economic upheavals, climate crises, and societal divisions—that contribute to a sense of impending doom.
These troubled times challenge us to consider our spiritual state. The world’s problems are complex, but the solution begins with a personal decision—to seek salvation in the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The turbulent geopolitical landscape highlights the transient nature of earthly security and possessions, emphasizing the need for a lasting, unshakable foundation found only in Christ.
Why Now? The Significance of N-O-W The phrase “Now is the time” encapsulates the immediacy of the call to salvation. The word “NOW” is an urgent reminder that delay can be perilous. The Bible echoes this urgency repeatedly. 2 Corinthians 6:2 states, “Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” This verse emphasizes that salvation is available today, and there is no better moment to accept Jesus than right now.“Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” – 2 Corinthians 6:2
N – Nearness of the Present Time
The present moment is an unrepeatable gift. In a world of uncertainty, the opportunity for salvation is still open. No matter your past, your mistakes, or your doubts, today is the day to turn to Jesus. The chaos in the world underscores that life is unpredictable; tomorrow is not guaranteed. The salvation offered through Christ provides peace and assurance that transcends circumstances. It is a gift that transforms lives, offering hope amid despair.
O – Overcome Fear and Uncertainty
The current world tensions evoke fears of war, suffering, and loss. In Christ, believers are offered a refuge—a source of peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). Accepting Jesus brings spiritual security that earthly circumstances cannot destroy. It is a call to overcome fear with faith, trusting that God’s plan is ultimately for good, even amid turmoil. The salvation process is personal; it is an invitation to lay down worries and embrace the promise of eternal life.
W – Wait No Longer
Procrastination can be dangerous, especially in times of crisis. The world’s instability serves as a reminder that waiting can lead to missed opportunities for salvation. Revelation 3:20 depicts Jesus standing at the door and knocking, waiting for individuals to open their hearts. The message is clear: waiting too long may result in lost salvation or spiritual complacency. The current global unrest underscores the importance of acting now—responding to Jesus’ call without delay.
The Eternal Perspective
While the troubles of today may seem overwhelming, faith in Jesus Christ offers an eternal perspective. Salvation is not merely about escaping present difficulties but about securing a place in eternity with God. The turmoil between nations reminds us of the temporary nature of earthly kingdoms and the everlasting kingdom of God. Accepting Jesus now ensures that one’s soul is anchored in hope beyond this life.
What Will You Decide?
In these troubling times, especially amid conflicts like between Israel and Iran, the message is clear: now is the time to be saved in Jesus Christ. The chaos and uncertainty of the world should propel us to seek the one stable and unchanging refuge—Him. As a mother telling her child to clean their room “N-O-W,” we too are being told and reminded of the immediacy of salvation: the present opportunity, the call to overcome fear, and the urgency to act without delay.
The world may be shaking, but in Christ, believers find peace, hope, and eternal security. The decision to accept Jesus cannot be postponed, for today is the day of salvation. Embrace Him now, and secure your eternity in the midst of Earth’s most troubling times. The time to be saved is today—Now Opens Wonderful possibilities for a life transformed and a future secured only in Christ.
